Ma Thanegi
Ma Thanegi was born in Myanmar and educated
at the Methodist English High School, the State School of Fine Arts, the Institute of Economics and the Institute of Foreign Languages where she studied French and German.
Her original career is as a painter and her first participation in a group show was in 1967 at the
first modern group show of Myanmar, held at the YMCA. The other leading artists of the time who participated were Paw Oo Thet, Sunn Myint, Aung Taik etc. Since then she has participated in many annual group shows and seven solo exhibitions.
She is a contributing editor at The Myanmar
Times, an English language weekly and editor of Enchanting Myanmar a travel magazine. She has written many articles on art and culture of Myanmar.
She lives in Yangon, Myanmar.
