Muusikoiden sokkotreffit – vapaan improvisaation illat esittää: ¡haUtUllin!

Kirjoitettu: 14.4.2013

¡haUtUllin!
perjantaina 26.4. klo 19 alkaen
Pispalan nykytaiteen keskus Hirvitalo
Hirvikatu 10, Tampere

¡haUtUllin! esiintyy Pispalan nykytaiteen keskuksella Hirvitalolla 26.4. osana Muusikoiden sokkotreffit – vapaan improvisaation illat –konserttisarjaa. Muusikoiden sokkotreffit -tapahtumien ideana on koota samaan paikkaan joukko maamme eturivin jazzmuusikoita vapaan improvisaation pariin. Vuoden 2013 konserttisarjan avauksessa esiintyy poikkeuksellisesti jo valmis yhtye. Samalla Hirvitalo juhlistaa 7-vuotista taivaltaan.

¡haUtUllin! on auditiivista anarkiaa, jossa äänten paletti on laajennettu äärimmilleen. Duon kullakin jäsenellä pitkä kokemus vapaasta improvisoinnista Kööpenhaminan ja Berliinin skenessä, yhteistyökumppaneinaan (muun muassa) Peter Brötzmann, Herb Robertson, Linda Kallerdahl, John Tchicai, Tristan Honsinger, Liudas Mockunas, Lotte Anker, Django Bates, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Eivind Lønning ja Mikko Innanen.

Markus Pesonen (FIN) – kitara, preparatiot, live elektroniikka
Håkon Berre (NO) – rummut, perkussiot, esineet, live elektroniikka

“Pesonen ja Berre käsittelevät tuottamiaan ääniään siihen malliin, että on välillä vaikea uskoa kuulevansa vain kahden ihmisen ja (tavallaan vain) kahden instrumentin työskentelyä, saati että kyse on vain kitarasta ja rummuista. (…) ¡haUtUllin! soittaa auki sitä, mitä musiikki voisi olla, ei sitä mitä se todennäköisesti tai oletettavasti on.” Jani Ekblom, Desibeli

“In essence, every track shows how the limited line-up of guitar and drums can bring completely different approaches, but thanks to the great artistry of both musicians it remains a coherent story, with a unique atmosphere and sound that maintains its focus despite the variation. ” Stef, Freejazzblog (BE)

“Sound fragments, detached pieces of music, feedback, electronic noise, junk and other things indicates in the most delicate way, that noise is god. Pesonen’s and Berre’s musical experiments are important. Sound and music, that challenges the listener, are being tested and developed.” Niels Overgård, Jazznyt (DK)

“Nykytekniikoilla nämä kaksi kaverusta taikovat mahdottomia äänimaailmoja esille. Live-elektroniikka on se ehtymätön taikapakki, jota kumpikin osaa taiten hyödyntää.” Pentti Ronkainen, Keskisuomalainen

“Down in the zones of acoustic sounds and organic tissue, into singing tone paintings and dialogues with a personal expression. This should foster respect among the discerning avant-garde audience.” Christian Munch-Hansen, Politiken (DK)

¡haUtUllin!
on Friday 26th of April from 7 PM
Center of Contemporary Art Pispala
Hirvikatu 10, Tampere

¡haUtUllin! performs at Center of Contemporary Art Pispala 26th of April as part of the Musicians on a blind date – an evening of free improvisation concert series.  The idea of Musicians on a blind date events is to bring together in one place some of our country’s leading jazz musicians for free improvisation. Concert series 2013 starts exceptionally with a complete band. At the same time Center of Contemporary Art Pispala celebrates its 7th birthday.

¡haUtUllin! is a Norwegian/Finnish duo which unites two young improvisers making music in the moment. ¡haUtUllin! uses everything from ringing bells, tin plates and chains, to pot lids, tea towels, forks and chopsticks to make noise. Acoustic sounds gets electronically treated with computers before getting played back together with howling, distorted guitar, crackling computer noise and thundering drums.

¡haUtUllin! represents a break with the prevailing musical styles and with the understanding of the instruments typical roles and use. ¡haUtUllin! is also an auditory anarchy where the sound palette is extended to the extreme. The members of the duo each have a long experience from the free improvising scene of Copenhagen and Berlin, which includes collaborations with (among others) Peter Brötzmann, Herb Robertson, Linda Kallerdahl, John Tchicai, Tristan Honsinger, Peter Friis-Nielsen, Kresten Osgood, Lotte Anker og Kasper Tranberg.

“Pesonen and Berre handle the sounds they produce in such a way, that it is at times hard to believe hearing only two people and (in a way) only two instruments work, not to mention that it’s just guitar and drums. (…) ¡haUtUllin! plays what music could be, not what it probably is.” Jani Ekblom, Desibeli
