恶搞 - Museum of Online Spoofs is a museum project dedicated to the playful torrent of netizen culture - online spoofs.
The name of the museum, 恶搞 (e´gao) refers to a recently emerged form of digital culture in China that deconstructs serious themes to entertain people with comedy effects. The two characters "e" 恶 meaning "evil" and "gao" 搞 meaning "work" combine to describe a subculture that is characterized by humour, revelry, subversion, grass-root spontaneity, defiance of authority, mass participation and multi-media high-tech.
恶搞 - Museum of Online Spoofs project's aim is to preserve the precious online spoofing culture for the future generations. How?, why?, where? and by whom ? are questions to be discussed. The development of the project has started as a Facebook group. The direct address to it is:
