Monikulttuurinen nuorisoryhmä Up With People on saapumassa Tampereelle
8.- 12. joulukuuta 2009. Ryhmään kuuluu noin 90 nuorta yli
kahdestakymmenestä eri maasta ja heidän ohjaustiiminsä. Nyt nämä nuoret
kaipaisivat kipeästi perhemajoitusta tai majapaikkaa. Kokemus on
varmasti antoisa paitsi nuorille, myös heidän majoittajilleen.
Lisäksi nuoret tekevät Tampereella olleessaan päivän tai kaksi
vapaaehtoistyötä hyvien projektien puolesta. Kaipaisivat siis jotain
nuorten näkökulmasta kiinnostavia vapaaehtoistyömahdollisuuksia, jossa
voisivat olla apuna (ilman suomen kielen taitoa). Tuleeko kenellekään
mitään mieleen?

*What is Up with People?*
/Up with People /is an International Non-Profit Organization that
runs a Global Leadership Program for young adults. Traveling the
world for 6 months visiting 3 continents, Up with People
Participants engage in Community Impact Projects, perform the /Up
with People Show /and experience diverse cultures by living with
local Host Families.
Since 1965 over 21,000 students from more than 90 countries have
participated in our Education Program, performing in 4 Super Bowl
Halftimes to entertaining Pope John Paul II, /Up with People /is a
truly International Organization with an esteemed past.
For the last 4 months /Up with People /has toured the USA, Mexico,
Sweden, Germany, Poland, and Denmark and will be arriving here in
Tampere from December 8 – 12. So far we have performed high up in
the mountains of Aspen, Colorado down to the deserts of Arizona, on
the beaches of Veracruz, Mexico and across the capitals of Europe.
We have entertained thousands of audiences, volunteered over 12,000
hours of community service and lived with over 800 host families!
This December /Up with People /is visiting Tampere from December 8 –
12 and we want you to get involved! We’d like to offer the
opportunity of inviting the world into your home by hosting one of
our international students. This year we have 90 people from 22
different countries such as the USA, Bermuda, France, Ethiopia,
China, Finland and Taiwan who will be volunteering with local
schools, hospitals and charities and living with local host families
right here in Tampere.
If you are interested in this experience all we ask you to provide
is a place to sleep, some meals, limited local transportation and
above all an open mind to learning about new cultures and sharing
traditions. All our students are young adults who care about global
issues and want to change the world. We challenge you to support
your local community!
