Between 21 and 29 of March 2009, you can be one of 20 participants from all over Europe that will meet in Krakow at PRES2, a one-week training course on advanced public relations for youth NGOs and international projects.
Organised by the European Student’s Forum AEGEE in cooperation with the European Youth Press, the course targets potential and present NGOs activists with some PR knowledge and eager to work actively on European level.
The fields of training include: creating a PR Strategy, communicating successfully in cross-cultural environment, knowing the difference between corporate identity and image, visibility of international NGOs and their projects, working with media, commercial writing and advertising, ideal presentation techniques, and fruitful lobbying and networking.
The experienced trainers team is ready to share best practices and their knowledge by a balanced programme that includes lectures, simulations, workshops, discussions and casework.

Interested in media? Up to become a EU correspondent? Then apply for the European Youth Media Convention and get involved in a European project for young media makers!
The Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation Berlin and the German Youth Press together with the European Youth Press invite you to Berlin and other 35 young media makers from across Europe. As a representative of your country you will show the media situation, chances and challenges for young journalists in your home country between 1 and 4 of March. Experts will discuss with you about media and journalism in Europe and will also guide you about potential projects and jobs.
The European Youth Press will invited you to get involved in some successful media projects. You are also welcome to initiate a new project, and get connected with young media makers from across Europe. According to your interests and skills you will have the opportunity to participate in specialized workshops: print, radio, TV and photo.
If you are interested please send a short letter of motivation including your experiences in media and project work to a.sulewska@youthpress.org as soon as possible!
There is no participation fee. Accommodation and catering are taken over by Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation Berlin, but travel costs will not be reimbursed.

>Charlemagne Youth Prize: call for entries!
The second edition of the Charlemagne Youth Prize awards young people aged between 16 and 30 who have been involved with projects helping to promote understanding between people of different European countries. In particular, the projects can focus on the organisation of youth events, youth exchanges or Internet projects with a European dimension. The winning projects could serve as role models for young people living in Europe.
Organised by the European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen, the Charlemagne Youth Prize winners will receive funding of €2,000 - €5,000 for existing projects that foster a shared sense of European identity and cooperation.
Representatives of the best projects from each of the 27 EU Member States will be invited to Aachen, in Germany, on 19 May 2009. Deadline for applications:

The World Summit Youth Award (WSYA) is the global contest for online or mobile initiatives to raise awareness and help resolve the most pressing global issues. >International Radio Playwriting competition
The British Council and BBC World Service invites writers from around the world to write one-hour radio play on any subject, with the wining entries broadcast on BBC World Service in November 2009. Written in English, the play must be original and unpublished. The competition is open to any writer non-resident of the United Kingdom.
Two winners will be awarded with 2,500 pounds and get the opportunity to visit London to see their plays being recorder and to attend a prize-giving evening. There will be also additional prizes of digital or short wave radios being given for the best radio play to be written from each of he following geographical areas: the Americas, Europe, Africa, Middle East, South Asia, Russia and the Caucasus, Asia and Pacific. All writers whose plays reach the judges’ final shortlist will receive BBC goodie bags.

COLORS editorial team is looking for young journalists for a one-year experience in Italy researching stories from across the globe for both printed and online issues. COLORS is based in Treviso and is part of the publishing activity of Fabrica.
The applicants should be under 25 years old and should be able to speak and write in English. The grant holders will get a return trip from your country; accommodation; lunch from Monday to Friday; monthly money supply to cover living expenses, and health insurance for the entire duration of the contract.

>Conference in multi-platform media
The FEJS Secretariat in co-operation with FEJS United Kingdom Organising Committee (OC) invites you to the Annual Congress (AC) 2009, which will be held between 2 and 7 of April in Lincoln, England.
This year the focus is on bi-media or multi-platform media, which is all about giving journalists more skills in the workplace. Depending on your topic of choice you will learn how to make a pod/vid-cast, or how to keep your website up-to-date or craft the perfect blog. Value added extras include a workshop by the BBC, a tour of the City, and a wine reception.
The cost is 130 euros, a fee of 30 euros is needed in advance to secure your place. This covers your entry into the conference, accommodation and food. You will need to arrange your own travel. The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) will offer a six-week online course that seeks to bring together U.S. and international journalists to critically examine religion coverage around the world. Funded by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the course will run from 6 March to 17 April.
During the course, participants will explore religion coverage around the world, sharing a wide range of international resources and professional approaches; examine the ways religious context is essential in reporting on issues from regional and ethnic conflict to medical ethics; examine case studies of reporting on religious conflict in the Sudan, the Balkans and Iraq; and share critical insights, resources and strategies with one another on the experience of covering religion around the world.

>Global essay competition on sustainable development
Vinyl 2010 is a global essay competition for young people aiming at collecting the best ideas and perspectives related to Sustainable Development. This year topic is focus on “Faced with a food and energy crisis, how can society improve its well-being?” For this follow-up competition Vinyl 2010 is inviting young people to express their views on the key sustainability challenge facing our planet: In the face of a food and energy crisis we are facing, how can society improve the living standards of the worlds growing population in a sustainable way?
There are a range of prizes in this year's competition with the opportunity to win up to a total of €5,000. >Internship opportunity: European Cultural Foundation
The European Cultural Foundation is looking for an intern to work for the StrangerFestival, the biggest event for young video makers in Europe, gathering more than 300 media professionals in Amsterdam. Applicants must be register as students, and are expected to join between 6 an 9 months, starting on 16 February. Experience and knowledge in international relations, cultural studies, communications or media are considered an asset.
As an intern, you will be involved in helping to develop and coordinate the StrangerFestival. After the first edition the project focuses on consolidating existing partnerships, integrating the analyzed results and building new partnerships, the touring exhibition and the focus group. The intern will receive a gross fee of 375 Euros per month, based on 3 days per week, from which the internship provider will pay the social security premiums and wage tax and national insurance contributions that are due. Seven winners - one each from the Western Hemisphere, Europe, Middle East/North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, South and Central Asia, East Asia Pacific and one anonymous winner will be announced mid-June 2009. The grand prizewinners will travel to the United States to claim their prize in October 2009.

Five secondary school students will be selected to enter Moscow State University (MSU) Journalism programme. Organized by the newspaper Rossijskaya gazeta, Radio Rossii, and the journalism faculty of the Moscow State University (MSU), the contest encourages students completing their studies in 2009 to apply. Applicants should send a bio together with a story on one of five proposed themes. Deadline for entries: 20 February.
Selected participants will be invited to attend a live radio program at Radio Rossii station. The winners will be announced in April 2009 and they will be accepted as journalism students of MSU exempted from entrance exams. >Conference in multi-platform media
The FEJS Secretariat in co-operation with FEJS United Kingdom Organising Committee (OC) invites you to the Annual Congress (AC) 2009, which will be held between 2 and 7 of April in Lincoln, England.
This year the focus is on bi-media or multi-platform media, which is all about giving journalists more skills in the workplace. Depending on your topic of choice you will learn how to make a pod/vid-cast, or how to keep your website up-to-date or craft the perfect blog. Value added extras include a workshop by the BBC, a tour of the City, and a wine reception.
The cost is 130 euros, a fee of 30 euros is needed in advance to secure your place. This covers your entry into the conference, accommodation and food. You will need to arrange your own travel. >Online course on religion
The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) will offer a six-week online course that seeks to bring together U.S. and international journalists to critically examine religion coverage around the world. Funded by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the course will run from 6 March to 17 April.
During the course, participants will explore religion coverage around the world, sharing a wide range of international resources and professional approaches; examine the ways religious context is essential in reporting on issues from regional and ethnic conflict to medical ethics; examine case studies of reporting on religious conflict in the Sudan, the Balkans and Iraq; and share critical insights, resources and strategies with one another on the experience of covering religion around the world.

Indigo magazine has been awarded a grant to print a magazine and organise conferences across in Europe in 2009. >Global essay competition on sustainable development
Vinyl 2010 is a global essay competition for young people aiming at collecting the best ideas and perspectives related to Sustainable Development. This year topic is focus on “Faced with a food and energy crisis, how can society improve its well-being?” For this follow-up competition Vinyl 2010 is inviting young people to express their views on the key sustainability challenge facing our planet: In the face of a food and energy crisis we are facing, how can society improve the living standards of the worlds growing population in a sustainable way?

>Internship opportunity: European Cultural Foundation
The European Cultural Foundation is looking for an intern to work for the StrangerFestival, the biggest event for young video makers in Europe, gathering more than 300 media professionals in Amsterdam. Applicants must be register as students, and are expected to join between 6 an 9 months, starting on 16 February. Experience and knowledge in international relations, cultural studies, communications or media are considered an asset.
As an intern, you will be involved in helping to develop and coordinate the StrangerFestival. After the first edition the project focuses on consolidating existing partnerships, integrating the analyzed results and building new partnerships, the touring exhibition and the focus group. The intern will receive a gross fee of 375 Euros per month, based on 3 days per week, from which the internship provider will pay the social security premiums and wage tax and national insurance contributions that are due. Seven winners - one each from the Western Hemisphere, Europe, Middle East/North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, South and Central Asia, East Asia Pacific and one anonymous winner will be announced mid-June 2009. The grand prizewinners will travel to the United States to claim their prize in October 2009.

>Contest awards five students spots in Moscow journalism programme
Five secondary school students will be selected to enter Moscow State University (MSU) Journalism programme. Organized by the newspaper Rossijskaya gazeta, Radio Rossii, and the journalism faculty of the Moscow State University (MSU), the contest encourages students completing their studies in 2009 to apply. Applicants should send a bio together with a story on one of five proposed themes. Deadline for entries: 20 February.
Selected participants will be invited to attend a live radio program at Radio Rossii station. The winners will be announced in April 2009 and they will be accepted as journalism students of MSU exempted from entrance exams.
