Meidän pyhä lehtomme on tehoviljeltyä metsää.

Pyristelemme säilyttääksemme oman arvomaailmamme ja maailmankuvamme kapitalismin, kaupallisuuden ja yksilökeskeisyyden valtaamassa todellisuudessa. Otamme tukea juuristamme, etsimme esivanhempiemme perintöä kasvaaksemme omaan suuntaamme. Elämäntapa on sukupolvelta toiselle siirryttäessä muuttunut dramaattisesti, maatalousyhteiskunnan perhekeskeisestä mallista on pompattu suoraan keskelle juurettomien kaupunkilaisten yksilökeskeistä maailmaa.

Kirjonta- vanha tekniikka, uudet tarinat

Kasveista syntyy puku

Anne Savitie tekee puvun kotinsa lähimaastosta löytämistä luonnonmateriaaleista. Syntynyt teos, Parapuku, on eräänlainen maastoutumisasu Pyynikin metsiin, kunnianosoitus luonnon monimuotoisuudelle ja paikan hengelle. Puku tehdään kokonaan maastoon maatuvista aineksista.

Hirvitalo’s gallery without electricity presents:

Katja Luoto and Anne Savitie: Times of depression
13.7.-4.8.2013

Center of Contemporary Art Pispala
Hirvikatu 10, Tampere
Opening hours: Tue-Sun 14-19

Our holy grove is power cultivated forest.

We struggle to preserve our values and world view in a reality taken over by capitalism, commercialism and individualism. We take support of our roots, we search for the heritage of our ancestors to grow up our own way. Lifestyle has changed dramatically, we have leaped from the family-centered model of agricultural society directly to the urban world of rootless individualist town residents.

In this world of ours, there is no shortage of material, possibilities. We are flying jumbo jets from one continent to another. But when everything is available, it will lose all its value - We are living in a different kind of times of depression. We want to return to handicrafts, discovery, creativity, in the vicinity. On a voluntary basis, and prior to the disaster. We crochet relevance back, and we do it on our own terms, through our own world view.

Katja Luoto and Anne Savitie, bring to Hirvitalo installation, with an emphasis on ecology and non-electricity. With this they are investigating their relationship with their roots and nature. Relationship with nature is both casual and mystical. The exhibition is a tribute to our grandparents, who experienced times of depression.

Embroidery- old technique, new stories

Katja Luoto embroiders recycled home textiles stories where the everyday life and mythical aspect are both present.

In her photographic series she explores timelessness in her home, a house of her grandparents' legacy. The light enters the room omnipotent, lively, but also very strong, even destructive. Like time that eventually cuts all down.

Plants generated costume

Anne Savitie makes a costume from natural materials found nearby her home terrain. Resulting work, Parapuku, is a kind of camouflage to the forests in Pyynikki, a tribute to biodiversity and the spirit of the place. Costume is made completely of decomposable materials.
