Pispalan kulttuuriyhdistys ja Pixelache järjestävät kolmannen vuosittaisen osuustoimintaleiri Coop Campin 16.-18.8.2013 Tampereella. Tapahtuman pääpuheenvuoron pitää Pispalan kirjastolla perjantaina klo 18 Diego Cruz Martinez alkuperäiskansojen ja tiedotusvälineiden suhteesta, sekä siihen liittyvistä mediahankkeista Meksikossa.

Coop Camp on monialainen tapahtumaviikonloppu, jonka tavoitteena on luoda siltaa epämuodollisen yhdessä tekemisen, osuuskuntatoiminnan ja akateemisen osuustoiminnan tutkimuksen välille.

Viikonlopun aikana jaetaan näkemyksiä ja kokemuksia pirkanmaalaisesta ja suomalaisesta osuustoiminnasta – kansainvälistä ulottuvuutta unohtamatta.

Tapahtuman pääpuhujana Diego Cruz Martinez

Diego Cruz Martinez kertoo Coop Campissä alkuperäisväen ja median välisestä suhteesta sekä autonomisista mediaprojekteista Meksikossa. Hän on tullut Suomessa tutuksi ennen kaikkea Ääni intiaanikylille -yhteisöradioprojektin insinöörinä.

Ääni intiaanikylille on Kansan Radioliiton vuonna 2007 perustama hanke, jossa Oaxacan alueen kylien ihmiset kokoavat itse radiolähettimiä ja antenneja insinöörin ja teknikon avustuksella sekä saavat koulutusta radiotoiminnan ylläpitämisestä aina laitteiden huollosta ohjelmien tekemiseen.

Koulutukseen osallistuneista kylistä on pyritty muodostamaan hankkeen aikana verkostoa, jonka jäsenet voivat tukea toisiaan ja tehdä yhteistyötä.

Coop Camp kutsuu osuustoimijoita, tutkijoita ja yhdessä tekemisestä kiinnostuneita esittelemään hankkeitaan! Leirin teemana on tänä vuonna Viestinnän infrastruktuuri, ja järjestäjät etsivät kiinnostavia esimerkkejä osuus- ja vertaistoiminnallisista viestinnän hankkeista, kuten vaikkapa kaupunginosalehdistä, vaihtoehtomediasta, paikallisista tietoverkoista, tiedon jakamisen tiloista tai sosiaalisen median kekseliäästä hyödyntämisestä.

Aikaisempien leirien tapaan kolmannen Coop Campin ohjelma koostuu osaksi etukäteen suunnitelluista luennoista ja osaksi vapaamuotoisesti unconference- tai barcamp-mallin mukaisesti toteutetusta sisällöstä, jossa osallistujia kannustetaan jakamaan ideoitaan ja kokemuksiaan sekä esittelemään esimerkkejä yhdessä tekemisen hankkeista. Esityksen muoto on vapaa! Se voi olla luento, peli, työpaja, ruoanlaittohetki tai vaikka fyysistä yhdessä tekemistä kuten voimistelua tai tanssia.

3rd ANNUAL COOP CAMP IN TAMPERE-PISPALA 16th-18th AUGUST: THEME COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE

The 3rd annual Coop Camp unconference in Pispala-Tampere has this year the theme: Communications infrastructure (Viestinnän infrastruktuuri in Finnish), and invites you to join and contribute from 16-18th August 2013.

Coop Camp is a trans-disciplinary weekend of events aiming to connect the practice of informal cooperation and formal cooperatives in Pirkanmaa and wider Finland. The event is facilitated by Pispala Cultural Association and Pixelache Helsinki. This is a ‘tietotalkoot’ event, an occasion to learn about cooperatives, to share experiences, stories and practices of different types of cooperativism, as well as a place to ask for co-operators, gathering not only local Finnish cultural perspectives and ambitions, but also those of a more international networked scene.

Coop Camp’s Keynote speaker is Diego Cruz Martinez

On friday 16.8. at 18 in Tahmela library, opposite Hirvitalo Diego Cruz Martinez talks about the relationship between the indigenous people and the media in Mexico and autonomous media projects related to that relationship. He has become known in Finland, above all, as an engineer of the Voice for Indigenous Villages community radio project in Oaxaca. Voice for Indigenous Communities (Pasa la Voz) project, founded in 2007 by Finnish People’s Radio Organization, supports the indigenous communities in the state of Oaxaca in Southern Mexico by developing community radios.

The indigenous people living in the remote villages in the mountains of Oaxaca are often isolated from the mass media; the radio, tv and mobile signals seldom reach over the mountains and the newspapers are not distributed to such remote areas. The issues relevant to the indigenous communities are virtually absent from the Mexican commercial media. Through the community radio the indigenous people become the subjects of communication. Community-based radio is an accessible media which allows the villagers to distribute information, raise awareness of their rights, and to promote their own language and culture. In the project community radios were being used in creative ways to help to solve day-to-day concerns, strengthen the indigenous people’s identity and as an entertainment.

Open call for participation!

Although the Finnish translation may seem technical, the organisers plan an event for sharing examples of communications cooperation/cooperatives & infrastructure building in its broadest sense, from computer and wireless networks, streaming and social media platforms, to booksprints, local newspapers and presence-based forums.

As previously, it will be a 3-day event, with friday evening keynote, saturday unconference day (Finnish+English language contributions welcome), as well as some events such as workshops on sunday (to be confirmed). There is possibility to camp with tent near ‘Hirvitalo’ venue, and some travel support available from Northern Estonia and Southern/Central Finland.
