Taivaassa / In the sky

Taivaalla tapahtuvat ihmisten väliset yhteydet ja siellä myös näyttelyt luodaan. Se on paikka missä informaatio, eläimet, tavarat ja hiukkaset matkaavat ja missä myöskin yksitoista taiteilijaa, kukin omalla lähestymistavallaan, kohtaa toisensa näyttääkseen millä tavoin taivas inspiroi heitä.

Taivaassa/In the sky -taidenäyttely- ja esityskokonaisuus liittää toisiinsa videota, performansseja, installaatioita, ääntä, piirrustuksia ja työpajoja taiteilijoilta, joilla on erilaisia taiteellisia taustoja ja eri kotimaita. Darya Apakhonchich esittää The Dialogue With The Sky -nimisen esityksellisen installaation joka on omistettu kulutuksen, ylikansoituksen ja ilmastonmuutoksen ongelmalle. Samassa näyttelytilassa tapahtuu The Sky Above, virtuaalisessa vuorovaikutussuhteessa tapahtuva toimintojen vaihtotilanne – performatiivinen videopuhelu, joka taivaan kautta välittyy siitä fyysisestä paikasta jossa Mariana Barros sillä hetkellä on. Ana Maria Lima Dimitrijevic ääni-installaatiossaan ja videossaan Colour Music leikkii katsojan keksittymisellä ja tietoisuudella, yhdistäen tämän valon kirkkauden suodattamisen kanssa kamppailevan verhon kauneuteen. Äänen ja kuvan kanssa työskentelee myös Rosa Farber, jolta on esillä kaksi työtä: video Feel The Pleasures of Raw Material Video ja ääni-installaatio Domestic Rhythms: In terms of Tentacles – An Extract. Riitta Hakkarainen työskentelee paikan päällä Hirvitalolla, missä hän tulee piirtämään ja luomaan pienen performatiivisen asetelman joka löytää inspiraationsa Kalevalasta, jumalatar Ilmattaresta, isovanhemmistaan joka tapaavat Tampereella, sekä kuolemasta. Ääni/online-projektissaan fall(sss), Yoolin Lee tutkailee pystysuoruuden havainnointia sekä vähentymisen ja rappion liikkeitä. Jude Cowan Montaguen teoskokonaisuus Creatures of the Sky koostuu videosta ja vihkosistaan, jotka esittelevät hänen piirroksiaan linnuista ja ystävästään Traciesta joka työskentelee lintujen hengenpelastajana. Pipocan (Paola de Ramos) installaatiossa ja naamiotyöpajassa Being In Someone Else’s Skin taivaan olentoja ja niiden elementtejä tutkiskellaan naamioiden ja rituaalien tekemisen prosessin kautta.

Osaksi näyttelykokonaisuuden ohjelmaa on sisällytetty myös jännittäviä työpajoja ja performansseja, kuten Ania PsH:n vuorovaikutteinen Eco Fem Butoh -performanssityöpaja When I Become Rain ja r-tiiikan performanssi I AM STAR, jossa esittäjä yhdistää hahmon, liikkeen, asun, puheäänen ja musiikin luodakseen liioiteltua maskuliinisuutta ilmentävän spektaakkelin. Näyttelykokonaisuuden vie loppuun viimeisenä päivänä Vishnu Vardhani RAJAN performanssillaan Plants Are Queen.

Taivaassa/In The Sky -näyttelyn avajaiset lauantaina 13.7. 2019 kello 17–22.
Näyttely jatkuu 1.8.2019 asti.
Galleria on avoinna tiistaista sunnntaihin kello 14–19.

13th July – Saturday
5.30pm – I AM STAR performance by r-tiiika (duration: 15 minutes)
I AM STAR combines character, movement, costume, voice and music to create a spectacle of exaggerated masculinity.
8pm – THE SKY ABOVE performance by Mariana Barros (duration: 40 minutes)
Interactive international action, a performative video call, in which the audience indicates the action that must be performed by the artist, from physical actions to pauses for conversations.

14th July – Sunday
2 to 7pm – BEING IN SOMETHING ELSE’S SKIN workshop by Pipoca (duration: 5 hours)
Mask workshop “Being in something else’s skin” is inspired in the traditional human ability into incorporate beings and things by costumes and rituals to understand the other beings and themselves better. In this mask workshop, we are going to explore our body abilities and reconnect with the sky and its elements. We will make our own unique masks and in the end we will collaborate in a playful ritual with our masks and musical instruments. The whole activity will take 5 hours, children above 7 years old are welcome but they need to be accompanied by an adult, and booking the place in advance is recommended. 1 to 6pm – WHEN I BECOME RAIN workshop by Ania PsH
Eco Fem Butoh workshop followed by performances of the participants. Butoh, fluid, provocative, resistant to fixity and strict definition, was spawned from the creative impulses of post-war avant-garde Japanese artists seeking a more authentic and earthy approach to dance. PsH will emphasize to her students how Butoh is an art especially rooted in the flowing forces of nature the ecological movement reveres and protects. Butoh is centered on and inspired by natural phenomena and landscapes, seeking to reawaken our deep connection to nature. Booking the place in advance is advance is recommended.
