Olimme viimeksi tavanneet kasvokkain ehkä vuonna 2016. Viimeisten parin vuoden ajan olemme kuitenkin käyneet merkillistä, täysin kuvaan perustuvaa kirjeenvaihtoa Tampereen ja Rovaniemen välillä.  Yhteydenpitomme on perustunut miltei kokonaan sille, että piirrämme ja lähetämme piirustuksen toiselle jatkettavaksi. Piirtämisellä ei ole ollut päämäärää, aikataulua tai muuta tarkoitusta kuin yhteyden pitäminen ja mahdollisimman vapaa ja paineeton ilmaisu. Kyseessä onkin ollut  tietynlainen kuvallisen kommunikaation koe, jossa on ollut olennaista suhde yhteiseen kuvaan, liemeen, jota keitämme ja jossa keitymme.

Ilmaisu ´samassa liemessä´ kuvaa myös tunnetta jännittävästä, kinkkisestä ja jopa vaarallisesta mutta eittämättä kiinnostavasta tilanteesta, jossa nyt vain jostain peruuttamattomasta syystä sattuu olemaan – kuten elämästä.  Kuvat ja kuvien teko pystyvät luomaan syviä yhteyksiä ihmisten välille. Toivottavasti näyttelymme synnyttää myös uusia yhteyksiä, kokemuksia ja yhteyden pitoja. Samassa liemessä täällä ollaan!

SAMASSA LIEMESSÄ (Spoiling the Broth)

We had met face to face maybe in 2016. During the last couple of years we have had this peculiar, only pictorial correspondence between Tampere and Rovaniemi.
Our communication has almost solely been based on drawing and sending the drawing to the other to proceed with. The drawing hasn’t had any particular aim, schedule or other purpose than communication and pressure free expression. It has in fact been a sort of experiment of pictorial communication where integral has been the connection to the shared image, the broth that we are cooking and also cooked in.

The ambiguous expression ´spoiling the broth´  also describes feeling about exciting, capricious and even dangerous situation that you just happen to be in for some irreversible reason, like about life. Pictures and making pictures can create deep connections between people. Hopefully our exhibition also new connections, experiences and communications. We are cooking and cooked in the same broth here!
