Näyttelyt:

Yakovleva on pitänyt viisi yksilönäyttelyä Venäjällä sekä “In Migration” -nimisen yksilönäyttelyn Kyproksella. Lisäksi hän on osallistunut yli 50 yhteisönäyttelyyn Ranskassa, Belgiassa, Italiassa, Tsekissä, Kroatiassa, Argentinassa sekä Venäjällä.

Näyttely “Anatomical Atlas of Pain” (Kivun anatominen atlas)

On mahdotonta olla reagoimatta sotaan ja kärsimykseen, joka on muuttanut miljoonia elämiä. On vaikeaa ajatella mitään muuta, kun elämässäsi ei ole muuta kuin sota. Luomalla taidetta taiteilija voi muuttaa pois mielensä sisällä, kauas uutisista ja kivusta joka leviää entisestään.

Näyttely yhdistelee useita teossarjoja: videoheijasteet töistä “Non-acceptance” (Hyväksymättömyys), “Anatomical Atlas of Pain” (Kivun anatominen atlas) sekä animaatioelokuvasta “Oneluv” (Yksi rakkaus).

“Anatomical Atlas of Pain” on tutkielma sodan vaikutuksista. Tutkin kehon reaktioita sodan aiheuttamaan stressiin. Tutkimukseen vastasi Ukrainasta ja Venäjältä poismuuttaneita sekä pakolaisia, useista maista käsin. Pyrin kattamaan koko kirjon eri ryhmien edustajia: taiteilija Kiovasta, poliittisen vangin äiti Pietarista, Berliiniin muuttanut avoimesti homoseksuaali mies Venäjältä, vapaaehtoinen joka vastaa loputtomiin avunpyyntöihin. Vastanneet kuvailivat monenlaisia kehollisia oireita ja tukahdutettujen tunteiden, kuten kivun, pelon ja vihan kehollisia ilmentymiä. Kivusta vääristyneet ihmissiluetit kuvaavat tuhoutuneita rakennuksia Ukrainassa. Pyrin vangitsemaan taiteen keinoin kuvan siitä, miten meihin vaikuttavat valtio, uskonnollinen propaganda, pelko ja arkielämän rippeet.

Videoteos “Non-acceptance” (Hyväksymättömyys) kertoo tunteista sodan alussa, ennen kuin kukin meistä teki päätöksensä lähteä tai jäädä. Ensimmäisten muutaman kuukauden ajan ihmiset Venäjällä uppoutuivat uutisten virtaan. Jouduimme kohtaamaan tunteita joihin kukaan ei ollut meitä valmistanut. Jokaisen uutisjutun myötä uppouduimme yhä enemmän ja syvemmälle pimeyteen.

“Oneluv” (Yksi rakkaus) kertoo voiman vaihdoksesta uhrin ja hyökkääjän välillä, väkivallasta joka synnyttää lisää väkivaltaa. Teemana on jatkuva vaaran ilmapiiri – kaduilla, talossa, omassa kodissa. Nuoripari joutuu kutsumattomien vieraiden aggression ja hyväksikäytön kohteeksi omassa kodissaan. Ainoa tapa selvitä tytölle, jonka kumppani on kyvytön suojelemaan häntä ja taloa, on tulla vielä armottomammaksi ja vahvemmaksi kuin taloon tunkeutuneet raiskaajat.

Tuntuu kuin olisin koonnut tätä elokuvaa sirpaleista, yrittänyt asetella palasia yhteen muodostamaan kokonaisuutta. Sama pätee taiteelliseen valintaan yhdistää monenlaisia lähestymistapoja ja tekniikoita.

Exhibition “Anatomical Atlas of Pain”

It is impossible not to respond to war and suffering, this war has changed millions of lives. It’s hard to think about anything else when there’s nothing but war in your life. Creating art is like migrating inside the artist’s mind, from the news and the pain that is spreading more and more.

The exhibition combines several series of works: video projection of “Non-acceptance” and “Anatomical Atlas of Pain” and animation film «Oneluv»,

“Anatomical Atlas of Pain” is a research on the effects of war. I researched the body’s reaction to the stress of war. Respondents are emigrants and refugees from Ukraine and Russia, in different countries of the world. I have tried to cover the spectrum of representatives of different groups: an artist from Kyiv, a mother of a political prisoner from St. Petersburg, an openly gay man from Russia who now lives in Berlin, a volunteer answering endless calls for help. They described various symptoms of body manifestations of repressed emotions such as pain, fear and anger. The cut-out silhouettes of the figures contorted in pain show the destroyed buildings in Ukraine. I tried to capture the artistic image of how we are influenced by government and religious propaganda, fear, and what remains of everyday life.

The video “Non-acceptance” speaks about the feelings at the beginning of the war even before each of us made our choice to stay or go. For the first few months people in Russia were immersed in the stream of news. We were confronted with emotions that no one had prepared us for. With each news story, we became more and more immersed in the darkness.

«Oneluv» is about the shift of power between victim and aggressor, about violence that gives birth to violence. The theme of the constant danger in the air – on the street, in the house, in one’s own home.

A young couple in their own home is exposed to aggression and abuse by uninvited guests. The only way to survive for the girl, whose partner is unable to protect her and the house, is to become even more ruthless and stronger than the rapists who invaded the house.

It feels like I was assembling this film from shards, trying to put together all these different pieces to make a whole. The same goes for the artistic decision which comprises various approaches and techniques.
