Hirvitalolla juhlistetaan vuonna 2026 kulttuurikeskuksen 20. toimintavuotta teemalla PERINTÖ 

Haussa voi ehdottaa Hirvitalolle näyttelyä, ohjelmaa tai molempia. Teema on tarkoitettu suuntaviivoiksi ja inspiraatioksi hakuun, sen voi tulkita vapaasti ja ehdotuksen voi tehdä myös eri aiheesta. 

Haku on avoinna 31.1.2026 asti ja valinnat tehdään helmikuun aikana. Nyt haettavat näyttelyajat sijoittuvat huhtikuusta joulukuuhun 2026 ja tapahtumia voi ehdottaa koko vuoden ajalle alkaen maaliskuusta 2026. Näyttelyn kesto on 3 viikkoa. Hakuohjeet löytyvät tekstin lopusta. 

Perintö

Maailman ainoa ja vertaansa vailla oleva Pispalan Nykytaiteen Keskus, Hirvitalo, sijaitsee Tampereen Tahmelassa 102-vuotiaassa talossa, Pispalan kulttuurimaisemassa. Vuoden 2025 näyttely- ja tapahtumahaussa nostimme esille Paikan muistin – nyt jatkamme teemaa siirtymällä paikasta ihmisiin ja yhteisöihin, Perintöön, kulttuurikeskuksen juhlavuoden kunniaksi. 

Perintö-teemaan sisältyy säilymistä ja säilyttämistä, periytymistä ja perimistä, sekä aikojen läpi kantautuvia ja aktiivisesti kannettavia oppeja. Millaisia materiaalisia ja ei-materiaalisista jälkiä jätämme taaksemme, hyvässä ja pahassa? Mikä on säilyttämisen arvoista ja mistä voisimme jo luopua? 

Aineeton perintö solmii menneisyyden langoista tarinoita, kulttuurisena ja sosiaalisena yhdistäjänä. Elämme noita tarinoita todeksi toistamalla, uusintamalla tai kieltämällä. Tunnemme kuuluvamme yhteisöihin, joita määrittelevät tarinat tunnistamme ja pystymme sovittamaan osaksi omaa minuuttamme. Samalla menneisyyden aineksia suodattava perintö siirtää tietoa näkökulmista ja tavoista kokea maailmaa sekä ymmärtää, selittää ja järjestää todellisuutta.

Konkreettiseen jäämistöön ja omaisuuden jakoon viittaavana metaforana perintö edustaa tulevia sukupolvia ajatellen kuratoitua kokoelmaa arvokkaina ja muistettavina pidetyistä asioista, edeltäjien uskomuksista, tiedoista, taidoista ja saavutuksista – mutta myös virheistä. Mitä monipuolisempi ja kaunistelemattomampi taaksemme jättämä perintö on sitä rikkaammin ja syvällisemmin se pystyy avaamaan sukupolvien ja yksilön elämän ajalliset rajat ylittävää ihmisyyttä sekä ihmislajin suhdetta muuhun maailmaan. Ihminen elää osana elonkirjoa, mutta sopuisan rinnakkaiselon sijaan tuottaa siihen jatkuvasti huomattavia muutoksia. Luontoa ja kulttuuria, ihmistä ja eläintä sekä elollista ja elotonta erottavat jakolinjat ovat alkaneet ajassamme hämärtyä, kun seisomme maailmanlopun kynnyksellä yhdessä muun luonnon, eläinlajien ja eliöiden kirjon kanssa. Hakuohjeet

Hakemuksen voi lähettää yksilönä, työryhmänä tai kollektiivina. Haussa voi ehdottaa Hirvitalolle näyttelyä, ohjelmaa (esim. tapahtumia, työpajoja tai luentoja) tai molempia. Taide- tai kulttuuriohjelmaa voi ehdottaa talon sisätiloihin ympäri vuoden, sekä etenkin kesäaikaan pihalavalle tai pihan permakulttuurista ajattelutapaa kunnioittavaan puutarhaan.

Näyttelyajat ovat kestoltaan kolme viikkoa. Näyttelyn lisänä ehdotukseen voi kuulua samalle ajalle myös muuta näyttelyyn liittyvää ohjelmaa tai taidepainotteisia prosesseja, kuten työpajoja, performansseja tai videonäytöksiä. 

Tilat ja tarvikkeet
Hirvitalolla on kolme näyttelyhuonetta: alakerrassa yksi 16m² huone ja yläkerrassa kaksi 12m² huonetta (kuvat ja pohjapiirrokset täällä). Hirvitalo on yli 100-vuotiaana puutalona valitettavasti esteellinen; tarkemmat saavutettavuustiedot täällä. 

Hirvitalon pihaa, esiintymislavaa ja puutarhaa on mahdollista käyttää ehdotuksissa näyttely- ja tapahtumatilana erityisesti kesäaikaan. Pihalavan koko on n. 320 x 390 cm ja siinä on katos. Hirvitalolla on myös teltta, joitain PA-varusteita (mikit, miksauspöytä, kaiuttimet) ja tekniikkaa (projektori, valkokangas, kuulokkeita, korokkeita jne).

Hinnat ja korvaukset
Näyttelytiloista ei peritä vuokraa. Näyttelynpitäjälle (yksilö tai ryhmä) maksetaan kuitteja vastaan pieni kulukorvaus, jonka suuruus vahvistuu myöhemmin keväällä, kun saamme apurahahakujen päätökset. 

Tapahtumatiloista ei peritä vuokraa, jos ehdotettu tapahtuma tai työpaja on kaikille avoin ja ilmainen. Huom! Tapahtumien järjestäjille ei aina pystytä maksamaan palkkioita tai kulukorvauksia, sillä tämä riippuu saaduista avustuksista. Vuoden 2026 osalta ei vielä ole tietoa korvausmahdollisuuksista.

Hakemuksen lähettäminen
Lähetä vapaamuotoinen hakemus Hirvitalon sähköpostiin hirvitalo.gallery@gmail.com la 31.1.2026 klo 24 mennessä otsikolla “Näyttelyhaku 2026” tai “Tapahtumahaku 2026”.

Hakemuksessa tulee olla seuraavat tiedot:

1. 1. Näyttely- tai tapahtumasuunnitelma. Mainitse mitä tilaa haet, mahdolliset toiveet ajankohdasta (huhti-joulu 2026) sekä mitä tarvikkeita tai apua tarvitset. Näyttelyiden suhteen mainitse haetko yhtä huonetta, yläkerran kahta huonetta vai koko tilaa. Arvostamme myös selvitystä työtapojen ekologisuudesta. Suuriin installaatioihin ja veistoksiin on liitettävä suunnitelma ripustuksen turvallisuudesta.

Näyttelyvalinnat ja kriteerit
Näyttelyt valitsee PNTK-Hirvitalon vaihtuva näyttelytyöryhmä. Työryhmän tavoitteena on varmistaa erilaisten teosten esille pääsy sekä laadukas ja mielenkiintoinen näyttelykalenteri koko vuodelle. Näyttelyiden valinnassa huomioimme kulttuurisen moninaisuuden sekä toteutustavan ekologisuuden. Valituille taiteilijoille lähetetään tarkempi infopaketti ripustuksesta, avajaisista ja käytännön asioista.

Näyttelyripustus, avajaiset ja käytännön asiat
Valittujen näyttelyiden ripustus tapahtuu tiistaista perjantaihin ja avajaisia vietetään lauantaina. Yöpyminen talon residenssihuoneessa on mahdollista kaukaa saapuville taiteilijoille. Näyttelyn purkaminen alkaa viimeisenä päivänä eli sunnuntaina gallerian mentyä kiinni ja jatkuu maanantain ajan. 

Avajaispäivänä talolla järjestetään jokalauantaiseen tapaan perinteinen Hirvitalon kansankeittiö, jossa on tarjolla vegaanista ruokaa 4–10€ hintaan. Lisäksi lauantaisin järjestetään usein esityksiä, konsertteja ja muuta esittävää taidetta. Huom. Näyttelynpitäjät saavat halutessaan myös tarjota ohjelmaa avajaisiin tai suunnitella avajaistensa ohjelman.

Huomioithan, että galleriatiloissa järjestetään ohjelmaa (työpajoja, tapahtumia, esityksiä) näyttelyn aukioloaikoina. Hirvitalolla noudatetaan turvallisemman tilan periaatteita. Periaatteet löydät täältä.

Open Call for Exhibitions and Programme for 2026

The year 2026 marks the 20th year of Hirvitalo functioning as a free culture and art house! For this celebratory year, the theme for our open call is HERITAGE.

In this Open Call, you can apply with an art exhibition, event or workshop, or both. Feel free to use the theme as a guideline and inspiration, or propose something completely different.

The call is open until midnight 31.1.2026, and the selections will be made during February. The art exhibitions times available are 3 weeks each and run from April 2026 to December 2026. Events or workshops can be arranged from March 2026 to December 2026.

Theme: Heritage

The world’s only and unparalleled Pispala Contemporary Art Centre, Hirvitalo, is located in a 102-year-old house in Tahmela, Tampere, in the cultural landscape of Pispala. In the 2025 exhibition and event search, we highlighted the theme Memory of Place – now we continue in a similar vein by moving from places to people and communities: The theme for 2026 is HERITAGE, in honor of the cultural center’s anniversary.

Heritage as a theme includes preservation and continuity, inheritance and legacy, as well as lessons that echo through time or are actively carried through it. What kind of material and non-material traces do we leave behind us, for good and bad? What is worth preserving and what could we already give up?

Intangible heritage weaves stories from the threads of the past, as a cultural and social unifier. We live those stories into true experiences by repeating, recreating or denying them. We feel that we belong to communities whose defining stories we recognize and are able to adapt as part of our own identity. At the same time, heritage, which filters the elements of the past, transfers information about perspectives and ways of experiencing the world and understanding, explaining and organizing reality.

As a metaphor referring to a concrete legacy and the division of property, heritage represents a curated collection for future generations that consists of things considered valuable and memorable: the beliefs, knowledge, skills and achievements of predecessors – but also their mistakes. The more diverse and unadorned the heritage we leave behind, the richer and more profound it is as a tool that transcends the temporal boundaries of generations and individual life, as well as the relationship of the human species to the rest of the world. Humans live as part of the spectrum of life, but instead of harmonious coexistence, they constantly produce significant changes to it.The dividing lines that separate nature and culture, humans and animals, and the living and the non-living have begun to blur in our time, as we stand on the threshold of the end of the world together with the rest of nature, animal species and a wide range of organisms. (Lähdesmäki, T, p.374). Will the most significant world heritage of our time remain an irreversibly broken, ruined and messed up planet? (Lähdesmäki, T, p.378).

Instructions for submission

Applications may be submitted by an individual artist, a group of artists/collective, or a curated exhibition of artists. You can propose an exhibition, artistic or cultural program, or both. Program can be proposed for the interior of the house, the yard stage or the garden that is based on permacultural knowledge. The yard and garden are used especially in the summertime. 

Exhibition periods are 3 weeks each. You may also suggest program or art-oriented processes related to your exhibition, for example workshops, performances or video projections that would be organized during your exhibition period.

Spaces and equipment
There are three gallery rooms in Hirvitalo: one 16m² room downstairs and two 12m² rooms upstairs (photos and layouts here). As a 100-year-old wooden house, Hirvitalo has lots of stairs and is thus not accessible to everyone; further details here.

The yard stage, garden and the yard itself can be included as a space to host exhibitions and program, especially during summertime. The yard stage is 320 x 390 cm, and has a roof. Hirvitalo also has a tent, some PA-equipment (mics, mixing table, speakers) and gallery equipment (projector and screen, headphones, stands, etc.).

Fees and compensation
The exhibition period is free of charge. Pispala Center of Contemporary Art will pay a small compensation for the exhibition costs for each exhibiting artist or group based on delivered receipts. The amount of the compensation will be announced later in the spring.

Selected cultural program will also be hosted free of charge, if it is open to everyone and free for participants. PLEASE NOTE that for event organisers there is not yet certainty for compensations for the year 2026, as the compensations depend on the grants our community receives. 

Sending the application
Send a free-form application to Hirvitalo’s email hirvitalo.gallery@gmail.com by midnight on January 31, 2026 with the subject “Exhibition Application 2026” or “Event Application 2026”.

The application must include the following information:

1. 1. Exhibition or event plan. Include which spaces you are applying for (exhibitions can be proposed for one room, two rooms upstairs, or all three rooms). Also mention any wishes regarding the exhibition/event time (from April 2026 to December 2026) and what equipment and help you would need. We also appreciate if you include a statement of how sustainability has been taken into account in your processes. For big statues and installations, a safety plan has to be included.

Selections and criteria
The exhibitions will be selected by PCCA-Hirvitalo’s rotating exhibition workgroup. The aim of the workgroup is to ensure exposure for a diverse range of artworks as well as an intriguing exhibition calendar for the year 2026. In choosing exhibitions we pay attention to cultural diversity and sustainable working methods.

More detailed information about the set up schedules, opening nights, advertising and other practical matters will be sent to the selected applicants.

Basics of setting up, opening nights and practicals

The time reserved for setting up your exhibitions is from Tuesday to Friday. Openings are on Saturdays. Dismantling of the exhibition starts on the last Sunday after the gallery is closed and continues until Monday evening. On the opening day, our weekly Folk’s kitchen food sale serves vegan food for 4–10€ at 17-19. In addition, performing arts, concerts or other performances may be organised on Saturdays. The exhibiting artists are welcome to suggest and provide content for the opening day’s program, or plan the program of the opening day.
